Review of Taylor Wireless Thermometer With Remote Sensor

Had it not been a gift from a dear friend this POS would have received top billing in my recycling bin.

Firstly, if you must use this unit, BE SURE TO INSTALL THE BATTERIES IN THE REMOTE UNIT FIRST!!! Failing to do so will lock the master unit into a search loop which is not always possible to recover from.

The diplay is mostly unreadable unless of course your standing on your head in a well lit corner of the local asylum (restraints optional).

The "Atomic Clock" don't even bother. I think it's trying to connect with Chernobyl. Use the manual setup.

The readings are questionable at best. I live in mid-Michigan and I utilize the NOAA site at least once daily. I also have a very reliable, mechanical indoor outdoor T&H unit in my office. I compare the readings from NOAA to my old standby and I'm always within one degree 'F' and within 2% of humidity. Sadly, the 1526 is always off between 5% and 20% of both.

So when all is said and done; PURCHASE A DIFFERENT UNIT. A Weather Rock is more accurate than this is...

Review of Wine Grape Bonsai

I received my wine bonsai and immediately followed all the directions given. A few days later it began going dormant at least so I thought. I figured it was due to the slight change in weather which was fine. A few weeks later I discovered it had no live roots. It was completely dead. I would expect it to live for a very long time. What was up with that?

For a combo, micro/convection, oven, the price was very reasonable. The design is modern and, quite attractive, but it is way under-powered(1000W)compared to my previous microwave, which was Sharp Carousel (1500W). Which means, it will take more time to cook or re-heat things, e.g. a cold cup of water takes about 3 minutes to boil compared to 2 minutes in the Sharp. Also, the metal (very light weight) grate that came with for the convection cooking was broken (poor welding job) from the factory.

I ordered two of these fruit fly traps from Best Nest. I used them once, and when I washed them out wearing rubber gloves and using only hot water (no soap or scrubber), the color began to peel off in large chunks. Also agree that the factory packaging is sub-par. My unit arrived with the cabinet very slightly skewed ( you have to look pretty hard to notice it), and needed to use the leveling feet to sit it straight. If you need a paper weight that looks like a cork screw, this is for you. Otherwise, it didn't work too well [for me] as a wine opener and I had to use force to get the cork out. Review of American Lighting LVPX80BK 120-Volt Under Cabinet Xenon Puck Lighting Kit, 4 Pack, Black

I understand that these are not very expensive items, but they simply fail at an unacceptable rate.Two out of the six I purchased have now failed.What's worse is that the failure mechanism is not repairable.I took one apart to see what went wrong, after all it was not working anyway.I found that the socket that the bulb plugs into is so poorly designed, that eventually (a few months after installation) it will fail, even if you don't touch it - I mean the socket, not the bulb.This is poorly engineered garbage.Don't waste your money.If it was free, I wouldn't pay the shipping.As an aside, while they are working, the 20 watt xenon light is great for undercounter kitchen lighting, it's just the fixture - from American (made in China) Lighting - that blows.

August, 2009 update:I was sent two extras as replacements so I now own 8 units.Only two are still working.Much credit to the engineers at American Lighting for creating such a reliable failure mechanism.

Review of EdgeStar Sparkling Wine Cooler

The fridge does feature an internal light that is either always on or always off, there isn't a "on when door is open" option. For our purposes we keep it off, it would be great if it had the auto on feature.

This fridge does get very loud when the compressor kicks on and you can hear a very loud hum sound. Fortunately for us it's in a room of computers so all the fans and computer sounds drown it out for the most part, but if this is something you are looking for a quiet area like an office, library or home use it could be very annoying to you. The compressor doesn't stay on all the time, but it does kick on and off randomly as it needs it.

Would I buy this? Probably not, I would think that this style fridge should be designed a little better so that it isn't so noisy. We have a cheaper model of a different brand at home and can barely hear it when it runs which is really what I am comparing this to.

In the end this particular fridge is good looking, but can be loud.
