Review of EdgeStar Sparkling Wine Cooler

The fridge does feature an internal light that is either always on or always off, there isn't a "on when door is open" option. For our purposes we keep it off, it would be great if it had the auto on feature.

This fridge does get very loud when the compressor kicks on and you can hear a very loud hum sound. Fortunately for us it's in a room of computers so all the fans and computer sounds drown it out for the most part, but if this is something you are looking for a quiet area like an office, library or home use it could be very annoying to you. The compressor doesn't stay on all the time, but it does kick on and off randomly as it needs it.

Would I buy this? Probably not, I would think that this style fridge should be designed a little better so that it isn't so noisy. We have a cheaper model of a different brand at home and can barely hear it when it runs which is really what I am comparing this to.

In the end this particular fridge is good looking, but can be loud.

Review of EdgeStar 16 Bottle Compact Wine Cooler

I'm posting this review because of my extreme dissatisfaction with this wine refrigeration product line. I received a similar 12-bottle unit as a gift 17 months ago and it broke down a month ago.The cost to repair it, $55 in parts and who knows how much in labor costs.The company that manufactures this product didn't even care. Not a single other appliance in my kitchen has had such a malfunction and everything in my kitchen is at least 4-5 years old.It's intolerable that an appliance company zero credence for product quality / customer satisfaction and that they tell me that my only option is to spend $55 in parts to repair a $100 product.Why on earth would anyone every buy another EdgeStar product again based on this experience?

We are also planning to warn all of our wine-loving friends in the wine classes we attend to not purchase the products as well.What a disappointing company.

I bought this cooler because it had the lock.The lock is a joke.A 2 year old could get into this cooler.A simple removal of 2 screws on the bottom of the cooler renders the lock useless.Simply pushing down on the jamb also releases the door.Don't buy this cooler if the lock is important to you!

Review of 18 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler - Digital Control

I don't have a whole lot of good things to say about this fridge, because the good things are all too general. The bad things are specific and easy to write about.

This one seems to be well made. It doesn't feel cheap, and the door seals well. I keep it in my basement where I haven't had any trouble with temperature or noise.

The bad things: Tall wine bottles do not fit, nor do some bottles when you put a vacuum stopper in. The light switch is inside (not a big deal). The fan runs all the freaking time (the cooling unit does not), so it draws a lot of power.

It has room for six bottles in the top compartment, and nine bottles below. The temperature in the top can only be set for white whine, and the bottom for red. This is strange, because you're more likely to run out of room for white, yet it's reds that can be stored at room temperature. We often have a bottle or two of white sitting on top of it, waiting to be chilled.

I would have rated this three stars if the fan ever kicked off.

Review of EdgeStar 21 Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler- Digital, Stainless Steel

I ordered this as a present, and read a lot of reviews.There are so many negative product reviews for wine fridges, I really didn't know what to buy.So, let me put your fears to rest:

1)This fridge is really quiet.In an empty room with no AC on, you can't hear it.

2)It's beautiful.Really nice stainless finish, we get lots of compliments on it.On par with Cuisinart models we've seen at Macy's, but bigger.

3)No assembly except putting on the handle.Hallelujah!!!

4)Consistent temperature - the temp holds steady and does not reset when exposed to sunlight, or when the room is warm.It's really easy to read the temp setting, really easy to set, and it works like a dream.You can feel the difference in temperature between the 2 zones.

Dollar for dollar, this was competitively priced.I really liked my interaction with Compact Appliance.They were great.And, we're SO happy with it.

I am writing this review because of my extreme dissatisfaction with the Edgestar wine refrigeration product line and Compact Appliances.Two years ago my husband purchased the Edgestar 28-bottle fridge for me as a Christmas gift.We were so excited with the product that we raved to everyone about it.The following Christmas it was all my parents wanted.We purchased the smaller 16-bottle Edgestar for them.Not two weeks later ours died (right after the one-year warranty).My husband is quite handy and called to purchase various parts to repair the unit--over $100 worth--to no avail.We were devastated to throw away a brand new unit just one year after our purchase.I spoke with my parents last night and found to their utter disappointment now theirs has died too--just one year after we purchased it for them.This is TWO units that died immediately after a one-year period!These products are not inexpensive and were a costly investment to preserve our favorite wines.We are disappointed in the quality of the items and have vowed to never purchase again from Compact Appliances.We are also planning to warn all of our wine-loving friends in the wine classes we attend to not purchase the products as well.What a disappointing Christmas!
