Review of Pek Preservo Wine Preserver, Silver

The product description sounded good, but in my unit, the argon gas cylinder last for about 1 day. So it works out at about $4 a go... Also the unit is very bulky. The gas dispense sits on top of a cheapo insulated container. Would have been far better if the gas unit was a small self contained unit, that you could use to just inject a small amount of argon into the bottle, before putting the cork back in.

Product Description:
Introducing The Pek Wine Steward - the only product designed for consumers to incorporate the design engineering and technology that provides the kind of superior wine preservation and temperature control capabilities previously available only from professional grade wine cabinets. Wine oxidizes when exposed to air, causing a distinctive sherry-like off-odor and brownish tint that is increasingly recognizable with wine consumption experience. When wine tannins are oxidized, hydrogen peroxide is produced which subsequently oxidizes ethanol into acetaldehyde - the principal compound producing the oxidized odor and masking the wine's fragrance. On opening a bottle, acetaldehyde generation can be detected within as little as two to eight hours, depending on varietal, age, amount of wine contact with air, temperature, etc. White wines and older reds are particularly susceptible to oxidation damage. The biggest factor in oxidation is the amount of wine surface contact with air following opening and pouring. Therefore, wine preservation products that are most effective at reducing air contact with the wine surface will best reduce oxidation. The Wine Steward is the first device ever to truly extend the life of an open bottle of wine and ensure the wine is served at the precise temperature for the perfect flavor-considering different wines require different temperatures for just the right taste. It's the taste of wine that's important to wine lovers, and the Wine Steward is all about taste. A revelation to the wine lover, and indispensable to the connoisseur... the Wine Steward is an essential purchase, and the perfect gift.

Review of Pek Supremo Wine Preserver, Silver

A great idea executed poorly.

The unit is not a capable of cooling more than a few degrees below room temperature. We live in California and daytime summer room temperature when we are not home is 85°F. Wine is cooled to about 75°F, even when set on the coldest setting.

Temperature setting is wildly inaccurate, off by more that 10°F.

The unit puts out a LOT of heat under the unit, enough to heat the counter to 120°F. Bad design to heat the area below the unit as that heat is radiated up into the unit.

The power supply gets very hot, hotter than is good design.

The gas canister does not seal very well as it emptied in about a week with no bottle in the unit.

The bright LED to illuminate the bottle is silly. Light is an enemy of wine. The fans are quite noisy, too noisy to place the unit near a dinner party.

First unit died after a few days.
Replacement unit did not cool. Returned.

Review of Pek Vino Vault Wine Preserving Refrigerator, Silver

Bought the Vino Vault from Amazon a little over one year ago. Stopped working last week. I have been trying to find an owners manual. Called the company that makes the product. They said no manual. Also said that they can not repair their product. The company also said only 90 day warranty. I guess I have to look for a better product and a better company.

Review of Pek Argon Gas Cartridges, Box of 4

Prior to buying this my wife and I would just stuff the cork back in the bottle. It seemed like it was keeping it fresh, so I wanted to see if there was a difference with the use of this product. And there was! After we received this we followed the directions and left a bottle for about a day and a half. When we re-opened the bottle it was just as fresh tasting as the first day we opened it. No hint of lost flavor, and no hint of turning. It just works, and it's very easy to use. If you tend to NOT finish a bottle quite often then you should consider this product.
