Review of Oxo SteeL Winged Corkscrew

I was pretty happy with this wine opener until it snapped off in my bottle of wine. Really, I'm not that strong to be able to do that. It was a defective product.

I took pictures of the thing and threw it away. When I tried to have them replace it, they said you must mail in the broken corkscrew (at your own expense) in order for an exchange. Frankly an additional trip to the post office plus postage isn't worth the hastle of a replacement, which I think OXO is banking on. I offered to send pictures. Customer service was pretty unhelpful. I would not recommend this product to others and will probably avoid buying OXO products in general.

Review of Oxo Good Grips Wine Stopper & Pourer 3100000

Nice looking item, but the ball valve breaks off the metal side handle preventing the item from opening (or closing depending on the position it broke off in). I've tried two of them, and each lasted no more than 10 bottles each.

Review of Oxo SteeL Wine Pourer

This wine pourer works quite well. My wife and I have enjoyed how nicely it pours and that it doesn't seem to drip. Apparently as a bonus it also is supposed to aerate the wine. I'm not quite sure of the extent of this talent, but it does seem to pour well - hence the clever name!

One note, to pour nicely it does lessen the pouring flow rate. It's not bad for small-to-normal sized social gatherings, but for large parties where your goal is to get large amounts of wine in lots of glasses in a short time, there is a limiting factor with this pourer. For most people (ourselves included), this little do-dad does seem to pour effectively without the wine drip.

Review of Oxo SteeL Wine Stopper

This stopper came apart when I tried to remove it during it's second use. When I first put the stopper in the bottle, it was loose, although when I opened it a few days later, the seal was enough to cause it to break (with a weak pull). It also adds about an inch to the bottle height which could cause storage problems. I recommend a stopper that has a lever on top that fits the stopper to the bottle opening (and also doesn't add as much height). I had an inexpensive one from Crate and Barrel that worked great but I can't find it (guessing it got thrown away).

Review of Oxo Steel Combination Wine Stopper & Pourer

Nice idea, poor product.I have had 5 of these fail on me with only a few months use.The lever becomes very stiff.Eventually the linkage inside the stopper breaks rendering the lever useless.OXO customer service sent immediate replacements however all the replacements have failed as well. It's time for OXO to go back to the drawing board on this one!

A two-in-one tool, the Oxo Steel wine stopper and pourer makes filling wine glasses easier while keeping unfinished bottles fresh. Fashioned from mirror-finish stainless steel for durability, the piece fits snugly into open bottlenecks, thanks to its flexible rubber-ribbed base. In place, it creates a drip-free pouring spout that also aerates wine as it pours. If dinner is done and the wine is not gone, the piece's flip-action stopper makes a tight seal to keep air out so the wine still tastes good next time. Safe in the dishwasher, the combo tool fits almost any wine bottle and is easy to install and remove.

Review of Oxo Steel CorkPull Wine Opener/Corkscrew

After getting my finger pinched on a brass winged corkscrew I decided it was time to research a different design in wine openers.Considered an electric corkscrew but didn't want another item on my counter...plus they seem so TALL.This one is 6 3/4" tall and I think quite attractive in my kitchen tool drawer.
I chose this OXO model because I like OXO products and it appeared more sturdy than the less expensive plastic model.
It works effortlessly. You just place on the bottle turn and turn and keep turning the same direction and the cork comes all the way out.Reverse the turns to remove the cork. And best of all, no pinching or pulling.
My only minor quibble is the foilcutter top is harder to get off than I would like. You squeeze the two indented "buttons" on the sides with one hand while lifting the top off with the other. The top is 2 3/4" wide.I can't squeeze both buttons with one hand so I have to press with my thumb, releasing one side then turn it over and press the other to remove the foilcutter.A man with larger hands and more strength probably could do it in one move.I would still highly recommend this corkscrew or cork pull or whatever you want to call this wine opener.

Product Description:
A variation on a classic design, the Oxo Steel CorkPull removes corks from your favorite wines without requiring strain or clumsy postures. Whereas most corkscrews slide in and then call for prying, the CorkPull removes a cork by rotating in the same direction until it is lifted out. An oversized turning knob with a soft grip adds in the action, and a handy foil cutter is built into the design. Made from die-cast stainless steel for durability, the CorkPull stands up to frequent use and cleans up easily by hand. For coordinating wine tools, check out Oxo's pour spouts and stoppers.
