The item is not shipped in a box -- it arrived with a cardboard sheath on the top and sides, but the bottom was protected only by a thin sheet of styrofoam.The door was completely broken off and is beyond repair.This item was sold and shipped by Amazon, not a third party vendor.This may be the worst experience I ever had with an Amazon purchase.
